Can I get a high five?! Because that's exactly how many books I finished in August. If I keep this rate up, I'll hit my reading goal of 30 books by early October!
Glad I pushed through — A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
This took me a good 200 pages until I was actually into it. I pushed through thanks to the encouragement of other readers over on Instagram and I'm glad I did. I don't think I'll pick up the rest of the series any time soon, but maybe in 2020.
Blast from the past — Tithe: a modern faerie tale by Holly Black
Since it had been 15+ years since I read Tithe, I wanted to reread this before getting it signed by Holly Black during the National Book Festival. I both read it, wrote a review and got it signed. #missionaccomplished
Why hadn't I read this yet? — Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
OH MY GOD. I am so late to the Rainbow Rowell train, but I am fully on board after Fangirl. Cath was me. I was Cath. For anyone who is/was obsessed with Harry Potter fanfic, read this and you will feel seen.
Meh — I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella and Bloom by Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau
Not all books can be a win, but this month it’s a tie between books I probably should have DNF'd: I Owe You One and the graphic novel Bloom. To be fair, Bloom was a cute slow burn romance, just with major passing issues that I can’t get passed. Meanwhile, I Owe You One only had characters I hated making increasingly stupid decisions.
